Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament of India) Speaker Shri Om Birla led the House in paying obituary to Mr. Emilio Mwai Kibaki, former President of Kenya, who passed away on 22 April 2022.  He remembered him as a great leader who played a significant role in the strengthening of bilateral relations between our two countries and also recalled his participation and role in India-Africa Forum Summits held in 2008 & 2011.

The message of Hon’ble Speaker is as follows:

“I refer with profound sorrow to the passing away of His Excellency, Mr. Mwai Kibaki the President of Kenya. India will always remember Mr. Kibaki as a great leader who paid close and friendly attention to India-Kenya relations. We remember him fondly for his active participation in the India Africa Forum Summit of 2008 and 2011.  This House deeply mourns the passing away of Mr. Mwai Kibaki and expresses deep sympathy to the government and people of Republic of Kenya”.
